TD Matching

Exact matches for each of the following characteristics always preferred.

Age

Children should be matched with children within 2 weeks of their age if possible, and within 1 month of their age if necessary.

*for CDIs, within one week of their age is preferred if possible.

Hearing Age

HI children should be matched with children whose chronological age is within 2 weeks of the length of time they have used a hearing aid or cochlear implant, and within 1 month of the length of time they have used a hearing aid or cochlear implant if necessary.

Gender

Matches should be the same gender.

Siblings

Older siblings: Children with no older siblings should be matched with children with no older siblings. Children with N older siblings should be matched other children with N±1 older siblings.

Younger siblings: Children with no younger siblings should be matched with children with no younger siblings. Children with N younger siblings should be matched other children with N±1 younger siblings.

Maternal Education

Matches' maternal education should be ± one level of the target child.

Family Structure

Children in two parent households should be matched to children in two parent households.

Children of single parents should be matched to other children of single parents.
