PreFunc Checklist

Previsit - Start 30 mins prior to appointment

• Set up clipboards

  • Parent Clipboard

    • Audio/Video Release

    • Payment form

    • Cash

    • Ipad

    • Parking pass (if parents are driving)

    • Pen

• Set up eye-tracking room

  • Both computers on

  • Check participant # (in calendar)

  • Check experiment order and trial order (in calendar)

    • Note: Each child will perform two eyetracking experiments: PreFunc & CLF. Experiment order will indicate which experiment is ran first. The order of the list indicates the order of the experiment. For example, if the order says "PreFunc, CLF", then PreFunc is ran first, followed by CLF.

  • Start the first eyetracking experiment (PreFunc or CLF)

  • Enter participant number and select the order number

  • Set up screen so participant can see themselves when they sit down and turn monitor around

• Waiting room

  • Turn on lights

  • Make sure room is tidy

• Check parents’ names, child name, and car model if available

• Wait by speed limit sign

During Visit

• Get family from parking lot

  • Hand parking passes for dashboard

• Waiting room

  • Explain paperwork:

    • Consent form (remember to ask for questions at the end!)

    • AV release

  • Explain procedure again on the way to eyetracking room

• Eyetracking

  • Sticker on forehead

  • Do calibration/validation process

  • 4 practice trials (O then P)

  • Remind parents to close eyes and to avoid talking during experiment

  • Start experiment (O) – 32 trials

  • After the 1st experiment ends, turn the computer around so that you open up the 2nd eyetracking experiment (PreFunc or CLF)

  • Enter participant number and select the order number

  • Set up screen so participant can see themselves when they sit down

  • Calibration (C)

  • Validation (V)

  • 4 practice trials (O then P)

  • Remind parent that we try to avoid talking during experiment

  • Start experiment (O) - 12 trials

• Waiting room

  • Debrief parent on experiment

  • Child picks a prize

  • Make sure all forms have necessary signatures from parent

• Walk family back to parking lot

  • Ask for parking passes from dashboard

  • Scan out on other end

Post-Visit

• Sign all forms and file in main office

• Sanitize all toys and surfaces family used in waiting room

• Straighten and sanitize waiting room

• Sanitize and tidy waiting room
