# Audio Importing (LENA SP)

Instructions for our previous audio importing process using LENA Pro can be found [here](https://gitbook.bergelsonlab.com/data-pipeline/audio-importing).

## Set up recording in LENA Online (can be done from any computer).

### 1. Add the participant.

1. Sign into LENA Online ([o.lena.org](http://o.lena.org/)).
2. Go to Admin -> Participants.

3. Click "New Participant."

   ![](https://3364608434-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LD2B3y86yJyNeihFLqD%2F-LyVSS0rPmSyUItUrtUm%2F-LyVTPXAdiLGY7W1ssKd%2FA1-3.png?alt=media\&token=31be5903-6e76-43b0-a774-22bbbcf050db)
4. Enter participant information:

   ![](https://3364608434-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LD2B3y86yJyNeihFLqD%2F-LyVSS0rPmSyUItUrtUm%2F-LyVTSdvUjnCVB4cw5nV%2FA1-4.png?alt=media\&token=2f4a987b-22a8-44bf-8f21-637a1d911e2a)

   1. **Child's First Name** and **Last Name**: Use their first and last initials.
   2. **Gender**
   3. **Birthdate: \*\*Important!\*\*** LENA processing are highly dependent on this. Carefully verify Date of Birth and Age in Months.
   4. **Functional Group**: This is the study or group the participant is part of.
   5. **Recording Schedule**: Leave as "None."
   6. **Enrolled Date**: This isn't very important; use the date they enrolled or consented.
   7. **External ID:** \*\***Important!\*\*** Enter their lab-internal subject number.

### 2. Assign the recorder to the child.

1. Go to Admin -> Recorder Assignment.

   ![](https://3364608434-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LD2B3y86yJyNeihFLqD%2F-LyVSS0rPmSyUItUrtUm%2F-LyVTW1oeOKmRYqMzSVk%2FA2-1.png?alt=media\&token=e4515678-e2a5-4338-89c9-33b9046141b3)

2. Locate the participant you want to assign the recorder to.

3. Under "Assigned Recorders," click and type the recorder number. Hit Enter.

   ![](https://3364608434-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-LD2B3y86yJyNeihFLqD%2F-LyVSS0rPmSyUItUrtUm%2F-LyVTZLsn1Bmhcr54Bd9%2FA2-3.png?alt=media\&token=6d1aa8ab-1233-40d8-a3ec-043c686f09c7)

   1. The recorder serial number is located on a sticker the back of the recorder, or you can plug it into the computer and the device name will pop up.
   2. **\*\*Important!\*\* Double-check that this number is correct.**

4. The recorder number should now appear as a purple tag. The recorder is now associated with that child, and data from the recorder will be automatically processed for that child.
