Instructions for our previous audio importing process using LENA Pro can be found here.
Sign into LENA Online (o.lena.org).
Go to Admin -> Participants.
Click "New Participant."
Enter participant information:
Child's First Name and Last Name: Use their first and last initials.
Gender
Birthdate: **Important!** LENA processing are highly dependent on this. Carefully verify Date of Birth and Age in Months.
Functional Group: This is the study or group the participant is part of.
Recording Schedule: Leave as "None."
Enrolled Date: This isn't very important; use the date they enrolled or consented.
External ID: **Important!** Enter their lab-internal subject number.
Go to Admin -> Recorder Assignment.
Locate the participant you want to assign the recorder to.
Under "Assigned Recorders," click and type the recorder number. Hit Enter.
The recorder serial number is located on a sticker the back of the recorder, or you can plug it into the computer and the device name will pop up.
**Important!** Double-check that this number is correct.
The recorder number should now appear as a purple tag. The recorder is now associated with that child, and data from the recorder will be automatically processed for that child.
Plug in recorder.
A screen should pop up:
Check the initials, birthdate, recorder number, and recording length.
Click "Confirm Assignment."
Wait for the file(s) to transfer.
If using the multi-dock, wait for ALL FILES to transfer.
Once the recorder icon says "Charging," you can disconnect that recorder from the computer.
If using the multi-dock, wait until ALL icons say "Charging," and then you can disconnect the multi-dock from the computer.
You should now see the imported audio(s) in the “Files” tab being processed. This will disappear once the file is done being processed.
Move the recorder or multi-dock to a power outlet so that it can continue to charge.
You must leave the Hub computer:
plugged in
powered on
awake
connected to the internet.
(Buttercup is set to remain awake whenever plugged in, so this shouldn't be a problem.)
Hub will finish handling all recordings. The status area displays the progress for uploads or processing, depending on the Hub's settings.
Close Hub and shut down the computer only after the status area shows 0 Uploading or 0 Processing.
Open LENA Hub (only installed on Buttercup, PC laptop, as of 8/5/19).
**IMPORTANT!** Leave Hub running until it finishes handling the recordings.
