Eye Tracking Training
Steps to get trained to eye track and what to do if the tracker malfunctions
1. Watch 10 minute video from EyeLink
2. Read Annotated EyeLink training slides
Where you see ORANGE, that's a BLAB-specific annotation.
3. Attend an informational session with Staff/Grads
Set up a time where a trained experimenter takes you to the eye tracking room and explains how studies run. Ask questions and get acquainted with the setup.
4. Observe
Observe two studies--during the first one, you should just be an onlooker, with no job.
5. Track one adult
6. Track BLAB Staff pretending to be a difficult child.
Trainee should treat the staff member like a participant and should explain the full protocol.
7. Observe one more study, but act as set-up and explanation captain
Set up paperwork beforehand in the lab, go get parent from parking lot, and administer all paperwork and surveys.
8. Run one to three practice participants as second studies
Piggyback on any other study, including discrimination studies. Trainee is responsible for setting up these times. Make an effort to run a range of ages. Practice some where trainee is working completely solo (including button presses). Establish comfort with incorrect/missed button press protocol.
9. Eye tracking Written Test
10. Eye tracking Road Test
