For phonetic CHI transcribers

These are the details on how to actually fill in the %pho tiers with transcriptions

We use a transcription convention that was once referred to as Unibet but that is now a very popular online gambling website so we will now refer to it as ASCII IPA. ASCII IPA allows us to type one character per sound, which gives it a leg up over the more widely used ARPABET.

Deviations from the above chart:

  • We used ? as a glottal stop as opposed to a rising terminal.

  • We used x as it is in the IPA, to refer to a velar fricative (which happened more often than you would think!)

  • Any other symbols not presented above correspond to their IPA equivalent
