There are three settings in which we make camera recordings.
(A subset of) Eye-tracking experiments. A Looxcie controlled via an iPad mini.
~HPP experiments in the soundproof booth. A GoPro mounted on the TV and controlled manually.
Play Session experiment. Multiple camcorders on tripods with flip screens that have to be turned on/off manually and then synced.
All cameras need to be charged and turned on manually both of which are easy to forget and/or mess up.
The experimenter can't see GoPro's controls and screen when they turn it on.
Turning Play Session camcorders on is distracting to the baby.
Cameras are powered directly, with accumulators for backup.
Cameras are controlled remotely.
Recordings can be saved directly to a secure repository, without physical export from a looxcie/SD card etc.
Play session cameras are inconspicuous.
(less necessary) A builtin way to sync the recordings.
